Dakota Girls Basketball Defeats Port Huron Northern in District Play

The Dakota High School varsity girls' basketball team defeated the Port Huron Northern Huskies Monday to advance to the MHSAA district semifinals.
The 53-36 quarterfinal victory takes the Cougars' season record to 16-5.
Dakota was led by Rio Dudgeon with 12 points, eight rebounds, three steals and four blocks. Kylie Townsley added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and 6 steals, while Jessica Mabry was next with 10 points and four steals. Erica Manduzzi scored another eight points, with Kylie Churches adding six points of her own. Other scorers included Kyli Verduci with three points, Olga Caruso with two and Olivia Savage with one point.
Dakota now advances to Wednesday’s semifinal against St. Clair.
