$13.5 Million Construction on Groesbeck Underway

During the project, which covers 3.4 miles of pavement between 14 Mile and Hayes roads, two lanes will be open in each direction during peak travel times.

Motorists from Macomb Township heading south to central Macomb County beware, six months of road work on Groesbeck between 14 Mile and Hayes roads is scheduled to start this week.

Crews will begin a $13.5 million resurfacing project on Monday, March 18, and the Michigan Department of Transportation predicts the orange barrels will stay out through October.

Construction is due to take place in two stages, starting with southbound Groesbeck and finishing with the northbound side. Work will include drainage and utility upgrades, as preliminary signal work has already been completed.

Because this is a highly-traveled stretch of highway, two lanes will be open in each direction of Groesbeck during peak travel times. However, multiple lane closures will be in effect during nights and weekends in order to complete the project within one construction season.

A total of 3.4 miles of road are due to be resurfaced.

The county can spend all that money on a road that is still in very good shape but they want to charge the residents on Cimarron to pay for what the school busses have destroyed. What a waste of tax payers money.
