UPDATE: Phone System at Town Hall Restored After Car Accident Knocked Out Utility Pole
An accident Wednesday night downed one of the utility poles that provides phone service to Town Hall and Suburban Ice Macomb.
A car accident on 25 Mile Road Wednesday night knocked out the phone system at Macomb Township Town Hall and Suburban Ice Macomb for several hours Thursday.
A 25-year-old Clinton Township woman swerved off 25 Mile Road between Lucthman and Broughton just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, hitting a utility pole that provides phone service to Town Hall, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
The woman, who registered a .21 blood alcohol content, suffered minor injuries and was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense.
Witnesses to the accident say had the woman swerved in the opposite direction, she would have run into a field filled with youth football players.
Phone service was restored to the area Thursday afternoon.

Was at football practice with my kids when this happened, if she would have swerved the other way she would have been in a field full of football players. Going 50 or more and not even braking, things could have been a lot worse. I hope more people read this article.

Yikes! I'm glad she swerved the other way. That's a tragedy I hope we never have to report on Macomb Patch.
