Dakota Band to March in America's Thanksgiving Parade, LCN to Join Mount Clemens Event

Be sure to tune in to America's Thanksgiving Parade around 11:45 a.m. this year to see Dakota High School make its way down Woodward Avenue.

Do you hear what I hear?

If you're planning to watch the 86th America's Thanksgiving Parade you can be sure you'll not only hear but also see the talents of the Dakota High School Marching Band.

Under the direction of Risa Hsu, Dakota will join the Nov. 22 parade with the hope of reclaiming its 2011 title as “Best Marching Band” in the parade. Chippewa Valley High School has also been selected to take part in the event.

"I consider it a great honor to be able to represent our school and band program at such a prestigious event," Hsu said. "The band has spent the last three weeks preparing for the parade, and are very excited for Thursday."

The parade will step off at 9:05 a.m. and make its way along Woodward Avenue from Mack Avenue to Campus Martius in downtown Detroit. If you're planning to head downtown, be sure to set your alarm clock and check the parade website for additional route and parking information.

For those watching from home, keep your eyes glued to the screen around 11:45 a.m. when Hsu said she anticipates the band will arrive in the TV zone.

The band will play such holiday tunes as "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and “Christmas Carols on Parade” as well as the crowd-favorite, "Celebration."

The parade will be broadcast live on WDIV Local 4 and on WJR 760 AM.

LCN marches in Mount Clemens Santa Parade

The Crusader Marching Band of L'Anse Creuse High School North will take part in the Mount Clemens Santa Parade on Friday, Nov. 23. This year's event will kick off at 10 a.m. on Main Street at Church Street, moving north to Market Street. 

Lutheran North alumnus Sgt. Davin Dumar will serve as this year's Grand Marshall.
