Goldfish Delays Plans to Build Swim School in Macomb to Late 2013
Goldfish Swim School originally planned to open a Macomb Township facility in 2012.
It's going to take another year for Goldfish Swim School to make its way to Macomb Township.
While a franchise was originally intended to open in Macomb by the end of 2012, an associate at the Rochester location said late 2013 is now the tentative date for opening.
Goldfish Swim School, which currently operates facilities in Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Grand Rapids, Farmington Hills, Okemos and Rochester, requires an 8,000 to 10,000-square-foot venue to accomodate its specialized 4-foot deep pool.
In all Goldfish schools, the pool’s temperature is kept around 90 degrees and all chlorine is produced on-site. The schools are decorated with bright colors and designs to give the impression that students are in the Caribbean or some other tropical beach locale.
Goldfish swim programs are divided into five groups: baby (which require adult participation), toddler, beginner, advanced and recreational swim team. Baby classes start teaching children as young as 4 months old and the recreational swim team is open to children as old as 12 years of age.
Staff are Red Cross certified swim instructors.
While swim school is the business’ primary function, Goldfish facilities can also be rented out on weekends for birthday, school or club parties.
