Grab & Go Kids Planner: Animal Magic, Spaghetti and Fun on Tap

From a wildlife show to tasty crafts for moms and youngsters, there are lots of activities around town this week for families to enjoy.

 

Here's our list of family best bets for the week.

MOM, ME AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Where/When: Plaster Playhouse, Saturday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m.-noon.
Why Go: Macomb Township Parks & Recreation is organizing a Mom, Me & The Chocolate Factory morning of fun, happening at the Plaster Playhouse, located in Shelby Township. It's perfect for youngsters, where they'll get a chance to make their own cup for hot cocoa, and learn to make hot chocolate and no-bake cookies. Moms get to enjoy a little craft time, too, making their own mug for tea or coffee.
Pricing: The cost is $15 per person for Macomb Township residents; $20 for non-residents.

SEE 'ANIMAL MAGIC'
Where/When: The Macomb Center for Performing Arts, Saturday, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Why Go: It's fun for the whole family. Biologist and magician Mark Rosenthal blends humor, illusions and exotic wildlife that's sure to entertain one and all.
Pricing: $10 adult; $5 children 12 and under

    FAMILY FARM CHORES
    Where/When: Wolcott Mill Farm Center, at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
    Why Go: Enjoy a little Old MacDonald time on the farm, feeding and caring for the livestock and fowl, and learning about the animals.
    Pricing: $5 per person. Call 586-752-5932 to save a spot.

      FUN ON TAP
      Where/When: Wolcott Mill Metropark, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
      Why Go: It's maple syrup time, so bring the family to the Historic Center for a sweet experience. Learn how maple syrup is made, how to identify trees and make crafts.
      Pricing: Preregistration required with a payment of $5 per adult and $3 per child. Call 586-749-5997 or 800-477-3175 to save your spot now.

      YOUTH GROUP SPAGHETTI LUNCHEON
      Where/When: Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Sunday, Feb. 27 at 12:15 p.m.
      Why Go: Pasta for a good cause—to raise money for the church's youth group, combined with a baking contests, where the entries will be sampled and voted on.
      Pricing: Donations accepted.
