County Executive Mark Hackel says paper brochures are a thing of the past. From now on, he’ll be marketing Macomb County 2.0.

Today, in partnership with the Macomb County Chamber and Sterling Heights Regional Chamber, Hackel launched a new, interactive website that promises to revolutionize the way Macomb County representatives promote Macomb to the world.

“It’s incredible,” Hackel said of the new website. “It’s going to be a very dynamic site that is going to create a lot of interest for people who live in Macomb County as well as to better understand what Macomb County is about.”

The website, which has taken more than eight months to develop, will showcase the county’s business opportunities, as well as its government, recreation and residential offerings.

“It’s going to provide access to pretty much anything and everything people want,” Hackel said. “Whether it’s recreation, understanding the connectivity to government, what the government looks like … it’s very dynamic.”

A key piece to Macomb County’s “economic development strategy,” Hackel said county representatives will use the site to promote the county as they travel the county and the world.

“We’re branding Macomb County and sending the message, ‘Make Macomb Your Home,’” he said. “We’re working with the private sector and the chambers to get them to become an economic driving force. They’re going to help us grow business in Macomb County. (The chambers) are providing the funding for this.”

The website was also designed with current and future Macomb County residents in mind. Through various portals in the site, residents can view events in the county’s 27 municipalities and connect with local realtors and planning departments.

“What I want them to do is understand more about what we are,” Hackel said. “Whether people want to come here or invest here, we say, ‘Come and look at our county. Come to our website.’ No one else is doing this.”
