Macomb Biggby Owner Buys Utica Franchise

Macomb Township Biggby owner Sam Aleman now owns both Hall Road coffee shops.

Macomb Township Biggby owner Sam Aleman has added another piece of Hall Road real estate to his portfolio with the purchase of the Utica Biggby.

Aleman bought the franchise from former owner Joe Butkovich last week.

Butkovich launched the Utica store in 2008, but after more than four years in the business, the 29-year-old Washington Township resident told Patch he has decided to hang up his apron and set down the Caramel Marvels.

"It was a learning experience for sure," he said of his experience in the business. "I learned a lot in the last three and a half years. I think it’s a good company. They’ll end up taking over the Midwest market and at least Michigan, and I think they’ll continue to grow."

Butkovich assured his loyal Biggby fans that all the friendly Utica Biggby employees will remain.

If you were going to open a franchise, what chain would you choose?
