Macomb Twp. Man Arrested in Flagstar Bank Robbery
Frederick J. Huggins, 44, was arraigned in 41A District Court Thursday on a charge of felony bank robbery.
A 44-year-old Macomb Township man could face life imprisonment if convicted of robbing the Flagstar Bank on Hall Road last week.
Macomb County sheriff’s deputies arrested Frederick J. Huggins at his Macomb Township home Wednesday after receiving a tip from someone who was able to identify him in the surveillance photos published on Patch, Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said.
Huggins was video arraigned Thursday at the 41-A District Court in Shelby Township on a charge of felony bank robbery. His bond was set at $200,000 cash/surety, according to the sheriff's office.
Huggins, who was previously convicted of a bank robbery in Macomb County in November 2010, was currently on probation. He pleaded guilty to the 2010 charge under advisement and was sentenced in January 2011 to serve two years probation, with the first four months on house arrest and 39 days time-served, according to the sheriff's office.
Huggins allegedly entered the bank on Hall Road near Heydenreich at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 31, passing the teller a note implying he had a gun and ordering an undisclosed amount of money be turned over, according to police. He then fled the scene on a green mountain bike, police say.
He was arrested at his home on Thorn Tree Lane, less than a mile from the bank, according to the sheriff's office.
