Meet the Candidates for Township Supervisor: Grabow, Dunn and Missig

Macomb Patch asks Macomb Township's three supervisor candidates about their platform, party feelings and involvement in the community.

Come August, Macomb Township voters will be asked to choose among three Republican candidates for supervisor.

Incumbent Mark Grabow, Trustee Janet Dunn and Charles Missig are all running for the township's top spot, but voters can only choose one on the Aug. 7 ballot. There are no Democrats running for towship supervisor, or any of the other six board positions up for election this year.

The supervisor is responsible for the day to day oversight of all township operations. This office prepares and administers the township budget and manages all township departments, save for the clerk and treasurer's offices. This is a four-year term.

Read Macomb Patch's Q&A interviews with the candidates by clicking on their name below:

Mark Grabow (incumbent supervisor)

  • Age: 44
  • Party: Republican
  • Focus: Business and senior services

Janet Dunn (township trustee)

  • Age: 70
  • Party: Republican
  • Focus: Park development and Clinton-Macomb Public Library

Charles Missig

  • Age: 51
  • Party: Republican
  • Focus: Business and changing the township's "culture of litigation"

Come back Monday for an interview with incumbent clerk Michael Koehs, followed by an interview with his challenger, Cathy Imbronone, on Tuesday.

Macomb Patch intends to interview all candidates with ties to, or oversight of Macomb Township. Q&A interviews with the candidates will be posted in alphabetical order. Find more election information on our Election 2012 topic page.

I'm sorry, can there be a clarification that Mr. Grabow and Mr. Missig are "running for election as Republicans", rather than referencing their Political Party as "Republican"? Janet Dunn is the only candidate that should be considered a "Republican" with Republican values.

I think it is important that Macomb Township residents understand these gentleman have run as Democrats in past years, and only switched Political Parties in hopes of better success in the upcoming election.

We need to stick with Candidates with a proven "Republican" track record if we want to continue to have success in our Township and not fall for these tactics.

Thank you for the interviews, this is a great way to inform Voters how important turn out will be in the August 7th Primary.

It's true that both Missig and Grabow have run as Democrats in the past. Readers can find out why the pair have chosen to run as Republicans in their individual candidate interviews. Thanks, Lisa!

I think it's slimy of Grabow to be running as a republican this time around. He's only doing it in the hopes of getting re-elected.

I am Ernie Laing running for Trustee..I am a Republican and a veteran and it seems the incumbents get a lot more press than we do. I would like the chance to speak with the chamber of Commerce as well as the full time positions. I feel what I have to offer our community is just as important in a part time position. There were not many who showed up to listen to us on July 19th and I felt we had a lot to say about what we can offer as elected Trustee's.
