On the Agenda in Chippewa Valley: Red Ribbon Month, Naming School Facilities
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. today at the district administration building.
The Chippewa Valley Schools board of education meets at 6:30 p.m. today in the district administration building on Cass Avenue.
Tonight's agenda is short, with only one item of new and old business each.
Naming School Facilities
In old business, the board will revisit their debate of a policy which would allow the board to name school facilities after employees or community members as a show of gratitude to their work for the district.
At present, the district does not have a policy for naming facilities after individuals, and the board was divided Sept. 19 on whether such a policy would be beneficial or detrimental to the district's operations.
The board tabled the issue Sept. 19, but is expected to make a decision on the policy tonight.
Red Ribbon Month
In new business, the board will pass a resolution to observe October as Red Ribbon Month and Oct. 24-28 as Red Ribbon Week.
Red Ribbon Month is an effort to raise national awareness of youth drug use.
Currently, the Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth and Families (a coalition of school, parents, and community) and the Interfaith/Chippewa Valley Schools' Partnership (a coalition that links the school district with local churches) are working to support the drug prevention education efforts of Chippewa Valley Schools.
The next board of education meeting is Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

I wonder if they are they having any discussions at this board meeting about kids, or their education.
