Those who like a little fresh air at mealtime can soon add Shield's Pizza to their list of outdoor dining destinations.

The Macomb Township Planning Commission approved the restaurant's plans to add an outdoor patio to the 23 Mile and Romeo Plank location this week and the pizzeria is free to start construction on the addition immediately.

Although pizza is its most popular menu item, Shield's also serves up ribs, salads, pastas, burgers and Sanders hot fudge cream puffs.

The new patio will serve the full menu, including alcoholic beverages.
