Riehl Proves Real Deal for Dakota Hockey: Player of the Week

Junior finished season with 11 goals for MAC Red Division champion Cougars.

Matthew Riehl made an impression on the ice—so much so that his hockey coach wishes he could duplicate the Dakota High School junior.

"He's a great kid," Dakota coach Mike Jakubik said. "I wish we had 20 of him."

Riehl excelled for the MAC Red Division champions this season, finishing with 11 goals and 19 assists.

He had the winning goal in overtime of a 4-3 victory over Rochester Adams in the opening round of the state high school hockey playoffs on Monday.

Dakota finished the season with a 20-5-0 overall record.

"He was a vital part of the team," Jakubik said. "He was an exceptional skater."
