Immanuel Lutheran Hosts Secret Keeper Girl LIVE Pajama Party Friday

The show, geared for girls ages 8-12 and their mothers, focuses on the importance of inner beauty.

Raising a young lady is tough, especially with the daily barrage of photos, videos and shows featuring stick-thin models and scantily-clad entertainers.

Immanuel Lutheran Church will host the Secret Keeper Girl LIVE! Pajama Party Friday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. The main message of the show, geared for girls ages 8-12 and their mothers, is the importance of modesty, and that true beauty comes from within.

Admission is $15 in advance or $18 per person at the door. Participants are encouraged to wear pajamas to the show, which lasts a little more than two hours.

“The focus is to teach girls what real beauty is, that God loves them and that everyone is beautiful in God's eyes. The inner person is so much more important than the outer person,” said Karen Reincke, of Immanuel Lutheran.

The show is a mix of serious topics presented in a way that is entertaining, along with games that both mothers and daughters should enjoy. Various parts allow for moms and daughters to talk, enhancing communication and opening doors - sometimes for the first time - for those who struggle when it comes to talking about certain topics.

“Mothers and daughters often leave the event feeling closer than when they came,” Reincke added.

This is the first time Immanuel Lutheran has hosted Secret Keeper and Reincke said the church decided to offer it because some parishioners have enjoyed the event elsewhere.
