Sheriff's Office to Track, Map Macomb Township Crimes on Web
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office has begun using "Crimedar," an online mapping system that identifies crimes that have occurred in a community.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is putting its detective work on the Web to provide Macomb Township residents with information on crimes that have occurred in their neighborhoods.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham announced Wednesday that his office has begun to use the online mapping system, "Crimedar," to track and map incidents in the townships of Macomb, Harrison, Lenox and Washington and the city of Mount Clemens.
Sheriff's detectives will update the site regularly and users can expect to see crimes in their community identified on the site within 24 hours of law enforcement receiving the report.
The site will note the type of crime, such as theft, home invasion, assault, narcotics, vandalism and traffic-related complaints, as well as where the incident took place. Users can also filter the map's information to focus in on a particular street, type of crime or date range.
Residents with information on crimes occurring in their neighborhood can contact the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau at 586-307-9358. In an emergency, residents should always call 911.
