Sheriff: Shelby Township Boater Runs Over Anchored Vessel, Injures Passengers, Kills Dog
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is charging Kevin Scott Bushon with operating while intoxicated causing serious injury after a Saturday night boating accident on Lake St. Clair.

A 34-year-old Shelby Township man involved in a late-night boating accident on Lake St. Clair that has left a Roseville couple injured and their dog dead is now facing a charge of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, police say.
Kevin Scott Bushon is reported to have run over an an anchored vessel Saturday night, severely injuring a 47-year-old man from Roseville and his 47-year-old wife. Their dog died as a result of the collision, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office reports in a news release.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said deputies from the Sheriff's Marine Division and U.S. Coast Guard personnel responded to "Mayday" call for help at approximately 10:42 p.m. Saturday on Lake St. Clair. Upon arrival, deputies found evidence of a collision between Bushon's vessel and that belonging to the Roseville couple.
Bushon’s vessel had three passengers aboard when the collision occurred, but no injuries were reported, police said.
The accident occurred approximately two miles east of Beacon Cove Marina in Harrison Township.
Bushon was arrested and is being charged with operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, according to police. He is currently being held on a $5,000 cash/surety bond.
The accident remains under investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

This is a terrible tragedy caused by drinking and driving these Roseville Residents happen to be my family and I think that the drunk driver that caused this should face serious consequences not only did he take a animals life he crushed my families heart. As my family lies in a hospital; bed this guy is out enjoying his life..

Drinking & driving in any form is totally unacceptable. Unfortunately there are little to no laws on the open waters. There are no tests, no licenses, no age limit to operating a vessel. My father in law was 91 still operating a vessel well pass his ability. We did everything to stop him including contacting the marine division - no help until he hit a docked boat moored in his canal. No injuries. P T L

Booze is thee worst ..almost ruined my family ..it's ok to tip a few but when stuff like this happens ..well time to get help. THere should be MORE places for these people to heal and dry out. It breaks yr heart when you see a loved one drink their life away and you can't do anything about it ..sad ..sad.. Prayers for the families. They both need it. Poor dog.

This is a terrible tragedy and there needs to be some stiff penalties for drinking & driving - no matter what you are driving. If you make the choice to drink & drive KNOWING that you may cause severe injury or death to someone then people that's MURDER!! You did it knowing the consequences and you need to be held accountable. And part of the sentence needs to be working in a rehab facility for people who are recovering from a drunk driving accident so that every single day you relive that choice. Maybe then they won't get out and do it all over again!!

Wow Sandra ..that is an excellent idea ..but how do we introduce this into action ? You'd think they would have thought of a punishment like this already ..I hate to say it but there are people who just don't give a crap and will never change sooo lock em up and throw away the key so they don't kill anyone. If you have 2 or more then why do you deserve to be OUT AND DRIVING is my question.

What are your thoughts on having some sort of breathalyzer installed in all motorized vehicles? What if this equipment came with the car or boat just like the radio?
