Paper Wait is Over: Shred It And Forget It at Freedom Hill on Tuesday

Macomb County residents can dispose of old paper documents and correspondence at the "Shred-it-Day" event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office will hold a free “Shred-it-Day” event on March 5 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights.

Macomb County residents can discard up to four boxes full of paper documents and correspondence, including tax returns, credit card statements and bills.

Residents are asked to enter Freedom Hill from the eastbound Metro Parkway entrance to allow for efficient traffic flow.

Metal, plastic or other objects will not be accepted, and no paper documents will be accepted from businesses.

The “Shred-it-Day” event is part of National Consumer Protection Week from March 3-9, in which groups help consumers protect their privacy and avoid identity theft.
