Time Remains to Pay Winter Taxes in 2011
Through Jan. 3, residents can deposit their winter tax payments in the secure drop box at Town Hall and have those payments posted for 2011.
There's still time to have the payment of your winter taxes posted in 2011.
Through Jan. 3, the Macomb Township Treasurer's Office will accept any winter taxes deposited in the secure drop box at the rear entrance of the Town Hall as having been submitted in 2011.
Winter taxes for 2011 are payable through Feb. 14, 2012 without penalty. After Feb. 14, 2012, a 1 percent late fee will be added to the bill, good through Feb. 29, 2012.
As of March 1, 2012, all unpaid taxes are forwarded to the Macomb County Treasurer for payment and marked as "delinquent." At this stage additional penalties are added by the county Treasurer's Department.
How to Pay
To pay your taxes in person, bring your entire tax bill to the Treasurer's Office, 54111 Broughton Road, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The offices will be closed Dec. 30-Jan. 2 in observance of the New Year holiday.
A secure drop box, where payments can be deposited 24 hours a day, is located at the top of the ramp by the rear entrance of the Town Hall. Taxes can be made with cash, check or money order. Starting in 2012, a kiosk will be available at Town Hall to process debit/credit card payments on site.
Taxes can also be paid online with a debit or credit card. Convenience fees are applied to all payments except fund transfers from a bank account.
