Township Announces Crossing Guard Locations for Beck Centennial

Macomb Township will maintain two crossing guards at the intersections of Pimenta and Harbison and Carnation and Howard for Beck Centennial Elementary School.

When Beck Centennial students return to school Sept. 6, they will have crossing guards to assist them at the intersections of Pimenta and Harbison and Carnation and Howard.

Macomb Township Supervisor Mark Grabow announced these placements at Wednesday’s board of trustees meeting.

On Aug. 11, the board voted to maintain a total of four crossing guards, two at Beck Centennial and two at Ebeling, through at least the start of the 2011-12 school year.

At Ebeling, crossing guards will remain at Tilch and Haverhill and Tilch and Goldridge.

These guards will be kept in place until both schools successfully complete a crossing safety program offered through SEMCOG and Wayne State University.

The dates of these programs have not been decided and there is no set date for removal of the guards.

Receiving no recommendation on guard placement for Beck from Utica Community Schools, Grabow said the board was left to decide the placement based on interviews with parents and basic observation of the streets utilized by walking students.
