Until We Meet Again, Macomb Patch
This is Local Editor Jenny Whalen signing off.
I'm terrible at goodbyes.
I always have been. I refuse to buy souvenirs because to me, it signifies that I may never return to that particular vacation spot. I'm still in denial that Bill Knapp's no longer exists and there's a slight possibility that I never ended my long-distance relationship. Sorry, honey.
So it is with a heavy heart (and no little sense of disbelief) that I type this, my final post for Patch.com.
A little over two years ago, Patch expanded its coverage territory to Michigan and I had the pleasure of launching a community news website for Macomb Township.
Seven months ago, I was given the opportunity to bring that coverage to my native Clinton Township and in January, I joined the team managing Shelby-Utica Patch, too.
But tomorrow, I leave Patch to embark on a new adventure.
I will be forever grateful for the support I have received from residents in all of my communities and feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to share your stories.
That I've been able to take the polar bear plunge, fly in a stunt plane and test out the world's largest inflatable slide along the way has been icing on a rather incredible cake.
But as much as I have become a part of Patch, Patch itself is so much more. Each Patch site – Clinton Township, Macomb or Shelby-Utica – belongs to the community it serves.
Its events calendar is for your Mom2Mom sales and school plays. Its business directory is to support your businesses and the stories will always be yours, whether they are good, bad, heart-stopping or gut-busting.
Please continue using Patch to the fullest, and if you have a story to share, email Clinton Township Patch at clintontwp@patch.com, Macomb Patch at macomb@patch.com or Shelby-Utica Patch at shelby-utica@patch.com.
If you have a question about adding an event or posting a blog, you can email Jason Alley at jason.alley@patch.com.
Serving you has been a profound experience for me, the memories of which I will treasure forever.
So let's not say goodbye, but rather, until we meet again.
