U.S. Post Office to Increase Prices in 2013
The cost of mailing postcards and one-ounce letters will increase on Jan. 27, 2013.
Better hang on to that spare change from 2012, you'll need it when the U.S. Postal Service ups its postage prices once again.
The cost to mail a one-ounce letter, or purchase the new Forever stamps, will increase to 46 cents on Jan. 27, 2013. That’s up from 45 cents in 2012. Forever stamps allow customers to mail letters to any location in the U.S.
The New Year will also introduce the First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp, which will allow customers to mail letters anywhere in the world for a set price of $1.10.
If you're running low on Forever stamps, you may want to stock up now. Forever stamps can be used anytime in the future regardless of price increases at the post office.
In Macomb Township, you can purchase stamp booklets at:
- Walgreens
- CVS
- Kroger - 26 Mile Road
- Werner's Hallmark
- BP Gas Station on 23 Mile Road
Postage can also be purchased at the Pit Stop Mobil Gas Station at 18300 23 Mile Road and the Clinton Township Post Office on Garfield, between 19 Mile and Canal.
Costs Effective Jan. 27, 2013:
- Letters (1oz.) — 1-cent increase to 46 cents
- Letters additional ounces — unchanged at 20 cents
- Letters to all international destinations (1oz.) — $1.10
- Postcards — 1-cent increase to 33 cents

These tiny incremental increases on the 1st Class postage stamps is just a distraction. Look at the increased cost for mailing packages over the last few years. It's insane!
