What Would You Improve in Macomb Township in 2013?
If you could make a New Year's resolution for Macomb Township, what would it be?
More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.
As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Macomb Township to make it an even better place to live?
Should Macomb Township lead the way in adopting regional transit? What sort of business development is needed north of 24 Mile Road? What about bike paths that connect to Stony Creek? Does the township need a Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe's to round out its retail options?
What is on your Macomb Township wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?
Tell us in the comment section below or blog at http://macomb.patch.com/blog/apply about why you love living here!

Build a walk-over bridge and sidewalks on 21 Mile Road so that the children that have to walk to and from school and cross this heavily travelled road, will be safe!! It's terrible that the school district cancelled busses just to save a buck!! At what expense should we go to in order to save money? I personally don't think it is worth putting our children's lives at stake, do you? Children have been hurt and killed due to this money saver!! I hope whoever came up with the plan to cut the busses that used to safely get our children to school can sleep well at night.

I don't think it's a big issue at all. I haven't heard any stories of kids getting killed walking to school around here. A walk over bridge is unsightly and costly.

I couldn't agree more! Our kids and families should be able to ride/walk/run from their neighborhood to their elementary school, 7-Eleven, ice cream shop, park, etc. Sidewalks and bike paths create a sense of community and make our Township a very appealing place to live. And, lets lobby Whole Foods or Trader Joe's to move into the Kroger at 23 and Hayes when they move across the street to Shelby Township!

Macomb Township needs sidewalks or bike paths along its major roads, ie..25 mile road. You take your life in your hands if you try to walk or ride a bike along these routes.

Trader Joes for sure! A downtown area like Rochester would be lovely too! Bike paths to Stony would be a bonus.

I spoke to the township trustees about the dangerous sidewalks (or lack thereof) issues some time ago. On the way to Macomb Corners my wife saw a little girl, driving a bicycle behind her father's bicycle, almost hit by a car. She was VERY upset. Trustee Bucci said that they are working on a systemic plan to put in sidewalks and should be started soon. Onthe issue of the crossing guards, I thought that it was all about values. I don't think the education courses are going to keep the kids safe and the part-time, a few hours a day crossing guards were a sound expenditure for the Township. I also suggested that maybe some of the law firms, vendors, or even unions doing business with the Township should chip in/step up and sponsor crossing guards. Hell, put the sponsors' names on their crossing guard coats and vests. Maybe the companies that have gotten the personal property tax abatements would help out. Just a thought. I would hate to read that a child was seriously injured or killed because of the lack of concern.
