If you have non-grassy areas like flowerbeds, gardens and containers, using your lawn sprinklers to water them is not always the most effective choice. At My Sprinkler Guys, we often recommend drip irrigation (drip hoses) in these situations for several reasons.
1. Drip systems deliver water at low pressure and close to the root area. This means more water reaches the soil instead of evaporating off of the leaves. There is also less runoff which is particularly important for sloped areas.
2. It’s easier to cover odd shaped areas with flexible drip hose compared to sprinklers where the spray zone can only be adjusted so much.
3. With a drip system, it is easier to keep soil moisture levels consistent. Stable levels of water and nutrients are much better for plant growth and survival.
4. Flexibility. Compared to changing a sprinkler line which involves digging etc., drip hoses can easily be moved as plants mature, if new plants are added, or if some are removed.
Drip irrigation has been used effectively for years in commercial nursery and agricultural operations. Now, it’s easy and affordable for homeowners to get many of the same benefits and results for their gardens.
We would be happy to set up an appointment to see if adding a drip system would benefit your gardens.

Is a drip hose something you have to buy special, or can you make one yourself?
