Patch Spring Tour Day 1: Monday, May 16, 9:30 a.m. My first adventure took me to the Macomb Township Recreation Center, where I applied my rather limited athletic skill to the increasingly popular sport of Pickleball. I joined the regulars in the Rec Center's gym and U.S.A. Pickleball Association Ambassador Stanley Helzer showed me the finer points of lobs, dinks and other Pickleball shots. Next week, Macomb Patch, led by its fearless editor Jenny Whalen, will embark on the inaugural Patch Spring Tour. What is the Patch Spring Tour you ask? Think Tour de France, but without the bike shorts, and for the most part, without the bike. The Patch Spring Tour is a challenge to delve deeper into the community. For five days straight, I'll be visiting legendary locales and unknown nooks and crannies all throughout Macomb Township.
