CARE’s Parent Education Program

Winter 2013 Parenting Classes

CARE is announcing the kick-off of the Winter 2013 Series of Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) skill-building courses for parents being offered from January through March, 2013, throughout Macomb County. Courses will be offered to parents and caregivers of children in the following age groups:

Birth to Age 5: What to Expect When Raising Young Children (includes free childcare, children’s program, & book)

Ages 6-12: Parenting School Aged Children

Ages 13-19: Parenting Teenagers       

Specialty workshops will be offered in the following areas: 

• Triumph through the Challenges of FASD
• Adolescent Anger Management
• Adult Anger Management
• Teen Intervene
• Teaching and Leading Children (for childcare providers working with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.)

These group format workshops will give parents helpful techniques to improve communication, encourage cooperation, plus effective discipline strategies that promote both self-esteem and mutual respect within the family.
