100 Dozen Homemade Christmas Cookies for Sale Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran

The Macomb Township church's annual Cookie Walk fundraiser is now in its 20th year. It starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, until all cookies are gone.

Nothing says the holiday season like a good, old-fashioned Christmas cookie. Why settle for store-bought or break-and-bake, when there’s a chance to enjoy homemade without all the work?

Around 100 dozen cookies will be sold for $6 a pound Saturday at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The sale, which also doubles as a fundraiser, is in it’s 20th year. This season, the sale takes place in the church chapel and lasts until all the cookies are gone.

“All the cookies are homemade, there are all types, but we ask for decorative Christmas cookies,” said Pastor Greg Griffith, whose favorite is the ginger cookies.

Bakers work hard preparing the donated cookies for what is ultimately a fundraiser for the church. Proceeds from the Cookie Walk are used to purchase items throughout the year for the ministry.

Unable – or unwilling – to eat this many cookies? Sally Moss, one of the event organizers has an idea: “Often times, I get to hear how their families want to make sure they come to parties with cookies from Immanuel,” she said.
