Golfers Raise Funds For Care House, Offset Sequester Cuts

Participants in the annual GTJ Foundation took to the links of Gowanie Golf Club in Harrison Township to raise funds for Care House.

Officials with the St. Clair Shores-based foundation said the fifth annual event sold out with 144 golfers, and had a variety of sponsors to raise funds Care House.

Dorie Vazquez-Nolan, Care House executive director, said the federal sequester cuts could lead to a loss of grant funding. Events such as the golf outing will help offset those cuts, she said.
