Local Coaches Establish Dave Jackson Athletic Memorial Scholarship

The new scholarship will be open to student athletes from Cardinal Mooney, L'Anse Creuse High School, L'Anse Creuse High School North and Richmond High School.

The news of former L'Anse Creuse High School North principal Dave Jackson's death earlier this week shocked and saddened many in the local community.

Now, friends of Jackson are establishing a memorial scholarship fund in his honor to ensure that the former coach's love and support of local athletes continues for many years to come.

"This week we have lost a dear friend," wrote Rick Hawk. "There are so many of us have been touched by knowing Dave Jackson and we will all miss him dearly. It is in times like this that we feel the need to do something but we are unsure of what we can do. It is for that reason that myself, Jay Seletsky and John Haas have set up a memorial scholarship fund in Dave's Honor."
