DSO to Perform at Macomb Center

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert June 8 at the Macomb Center of Performing Arts, with DSO Music Director Leonard Slatkin leading the orchestra in a program designed to appeal to classical music aficionados and those new to the mix.

The DSO will perform the works of Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Tchaikovsky as well as Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Macomb Community College Professor Philip Barrons will join the orchestra on stage to narrate this special aspect.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Macomb County residents to fully experience the DSO right here in our community,” said Jim Jacobs, president, Macomb Community College. “Being able to partner with and present an internationally acclaimed orchestra at the Macomb Center demonstrates how Macomb College continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing our community’s cultural vibrancy.”

Tickets to the concert are free. Seating is reserved, and each order is limited to four tickets. Pick up tickets at the Macomb Center Box Office Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.–2 p.m. or Friday noon-6 p.m or order by phone at 586-286-2222.
