Lorenzo Center Presents: 'Before Michigan was Michigan: Lake Superior from the American Revolution to Statehood'

The Lorenzo Cultural Center's latest exhibit, Becoming Michigan: From Revolution to Statehood, runs through May 5.

Visitors will learn about the state's early history via exhibits, presentations and activities.

On March 9, Frederick Stonehouse, a maritime historian, will talk about Lake Superior before Michigan was accepted into the union. You'll learn about the days of fur traders, prospectors, clergy, natives, soldiers and sailors using the lake to find their fortune, and sometimes death.
