Music in Detroit During the 1950s: Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Rock 'n' Roll

Jim Gallert, veteran jazz broadcaster, researcher and writer, and Lars Bjorn, professor, University of Michigan-Dearborn, recall the "golden age of Detroit jazz" and the burgeoning of Motown in 1959, which broke down the artificial barriers between the music of black and white kids. This presentation is part of a series of programs, The 1950s: Affluence and Anxiety in the Atomic Age, at the Lorenzo Cultural Center, Hall and Garfield roads, Macomb Community College’s Center Campus, Clinton Township.
