Spring Awakening

For those of you who remember teen love with a little more angst, you may want to want to head to downtown Mount Clemens to check out Spring Awakening at The Emerald Theatre instead.

Set in 19th-century Germany, this rock musical follows several teens as they explore and confront issues of sex, abortion, homosexuality, rape, child abuse and suicide, at a time when their adult counterparts consider these subjects taboo.

The show runs Feb. 10-12 and 16-17 at 7 p.m. at The Emerald Theatre, 31 N. Walnut, Mount Clemens.

Tickets are $25 for reserved seating and $20 for general admission. A portion of every ticket sold will be donated to Turning Point, an organization that provides programs and resources for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and homelessness.
