Museum Adventure Pass Program to End Sept. 23

The southeast Michigan program provided passes to 33 area museums and arts attractions, including several Macomb County locations.

One of the most popular arts programs of southeast Michigan, the Museum Adventure Pass, is coming to an end.

The Clinton-Macomb Public Library confirmed that it will pull the passes from its shelves Sept. 23.

Participating institutions in the local area included the Anton Art Center in Mount Clemens and the Lorenzo Cultural Center in Clinton Township. They joined a total of 28 museums and arts locales throughout Macomb, Wayne, Oakland, Monroe, Washtenaw and Livingston counties.

The MAP program was slated to run for five years, through 2012. However, a lack of sponsor support for the final year caused the Museum Adventure Pass program to end early.

The presenting sponsor of the program was Macy's, with support from the Library Foundation of Michigan and the Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan.

However, organizers of the program have said that it will return for its fifth and final year during the summer of 2012 with a solely online program. At that time, visitors to the MAP website, detroitadventurepass.org, will be able to print tickets or discounted admission to participating attractions.
