Reserve Harry Potter Author J.K. Rowling’s New Book at Clinton-Macomb Library

Twenty-five people have already reserved Rowling's new novel in book or audio form at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library.

Harry Potter may have vanished into the past, but author J.K. Rowling is still around, and her first “official” for-adults book, The Casual Vacancy, is due out Sept. 27.

In Macomb Township, the book will be available at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library's north branch, but you'll want to reserve your copy early. The library has purchased 14 copies of the book in regular type, two large-print copies and two two audio copies. Library patrons had already placed 25 holds on the two copies listed in the library's online catalog as of Wednesday night.

Although the library has not purchased any eBook copies, Community Relations Specialist Jamie Morris said it is likely patrons would have this option in the next few months.

According to USA Today, the story is set in the little English town of Pagford, and revolves around an election held after a member of the parish council unexpectedly dies. Despite the Miss Marple terrain, press materials describe The Casual Vacancy as "blackly comic … Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war."
