Blockbuster to Host ‘Call of Duty’ Tournament, Kids Day This Weekend

All weekend events, from Saturday's tournament and raffles to Sunday's Kids Day activities, are free.

Macomb Township will be the center of the gaming universe this weekend as the hosts an in-store as part of the chain’s kickoff to the holiday season.

While Blockbuster stores across the nation will host a weekend open house Nov. 19 and 20, the Macomb Township location has been selected as Michigan’s flagship store–the place to be for free food, prizes and activities this Saturday and Sunday.

From 3-6 p.m. Saturday, gamers can test their skills in a free-to-join, head-to-head “Modern Warfare 3” contest. The tournament winner will receive a Toshiba Blu-ray DVD player and all guests can enter for a chance to win a copy of “Modern Warfare 3” while munching on free pizza from Hungry Howies. The store will also hold raffles for free rentals and other Blockbuster products.

On Saturday only, the Macomb location will also serve as a collection site for new unwrapped toys for the Macomb County Marines Toys 4 Tots drive. Radio station WRIF is expected to make a special appearance to help promote the event as well.

Then on Sunday, Blockbuster will open for Kids Day, a four-hour event featuring special guests and activities, such as clowns, arts and crafts, games, prizes, treats and more. Kids Day at all stores will run noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
