Cauldrons Overflowing With Candy? Donate Your Extra Treats to U.S. Troops, Charities

Use this list to find the businesses and organizations in the Macomb Township area collecting excess Halloween candy for a good cause.

Did your kids bring back enough candy to last you through Valentine's Day? If so, there are ways to cut down on their Halloween stash without risking a three-month sugar high.

Businesses and organizations throughout the area are collecting candy this week to send to U.S. troops stationed overseas and those in need here at home.

Candy 4 Kids, offered annually by the Parks and Recreation Department, gives Macomb Township residents a chance to donate Halloween treats to the Macomb Charitable Foundation and/or the St. John Providence Health System Christmas store. Both charities distribute candy bags to needy families over the holidays.

Residents may donate candy by dropping it off at the Recreation Center Nov. 1-19. There will be signs throughout the center and an orange labeled tub at the front desk for easy drop off.
