Century Plastics Expands Into Macomb Township, Looks to Hire 100 Plus New Positions

The Shelby Township-based company is moving into its second of two buildings in Macomb Township and working with Michigan Works! to expand its workforce.

Century Plastics Inc., a Shelby Township-based automotive supplier, has expanded into two Macomb Township buildings on Quadrate Drive, near 23 Mile Road and Hayes.

The Board of Trustees granted the company a temporary Certificate of Occupancy during its Dec. 12 regular meeting, giving Century the OK to occupy the structure in order to complete work on the building. They were issued a June 30, 2013 deadline.

For the past year, Century Plastics has rented a 55,000-square-foot facility in Macomb Township from Quadrate Development. Michael D’Agostini, a manager with Quadrate, said Century expressed an interest in expanding into yet another building, this one a 60,000-square-foot facility.

“They are still based out of Shelby, but these two new facilities are in Macomb, which is exciting,” he said.

D’Agostini said the company’s longterm plans may call for a complete move to Macomb Township, but for the time being, they are still based in Shelby. He also mentioned that between the two buildings, Century will have hired 130 new people.
