Meijer to Hire 6,000 Plus Employees for Holiday Season, New Stores

Meijer stores across the state, including those in the Macomb Township area, have started hiring seasonal staff for the holidays.

With the holiday season fast approaching, Meijer is preparing to hire upwards of 6,000 employees to staff its Michigan stores.

“Customer service is one of the things that truly sets Meijer apart from our competition,” said Janet Emerson, executive vice president of operations, in a statement. “Our goal is to deliver the best customer experience and the lowest prices, and as we continue to grow it’s so important that we have the right levels of staff and the right people in those roles.”

Meijer stores are open 24 hours, and only close on Christmas Day. Stores in the Macomb Township area include:

  • 15055 Hall Rd., Utica
  • 27255 23 Mile Rd., Chesterfield
  • 8401 26 Mile Rd., Washington Township

Interested candidates are asked to complete an online application at www.jobs.meijer.com. During the online application process, prospective team members can indicate their store preference.

Candidates may also complete an online application at the employment kiosks located at the front of most Meijer stores. The local store management will then follow up with qualified candidates.

“While most of the seasonal opportunities are part-time, these jobs can provide a gateway to a full-time career at Meijer,” said Jenny Hawat, vice president of talent recruitment and retention, in a statement. “As we move into a new year, we frequently look to seasonal employees first to fill our on-going part-time and full-time needs. It is a wonderful opportunity to get your foot in the door and demonstrate success within a growing company.”

Meijer plans to open six new stores in 2013, including the first Meijer in the city of Detroit.
