Name Change Underway for Parisian Store at Partridge Creek

Parisian and Younkers department stores in Metro Detroit will be renamed Carson's by Jan. 31, 2013.

Adieu, Parisian. Bonjour, Carson’s.

By this time next month, Parisian stores in Southeast Michigan, including the anchor store in The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township, will have a new name.

Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., the corporate owner of Parisian and Younkers, announced Wednesday that it plans to rename its four Metro Detroit stores Carson’s, officially Carson Pirie Scott, by Jan. 31, 2013.

“We believe the conversion will be seamless for our customers, as we are merely changing the store nameplate to Carson’s,” wrote Brendan Hoffman, president and chief executive officer, in a letter to store associates. “Our Parisian customers in the Detroit area will find our outstanding merchandise offerings and our commitment to providing excellent service remain unchanged.”

The timing of the name change was dictated by an expiring license. As Bon-Ton’s license to use the Parisian name – which it purchased along with the stores from Belk, Inc. in 2006 – is due to expire Jan. 31, customers can expect to see the Carson’s name on their stores by the end of the month.

The name change will include everything from the sign on the building to shopping bags, credit applications, forms and nametags for sales associates.

It will also mean new store credit cards for customers currently carrying Parisian or Younkers Your Rewards cards. While these cards will be accepted during the transition, customers will be issued new Carson’s cards within the next few weeks.

Your Rewards cards can be used at all Bon-Ton stores, including Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman and Herberger’s.
