Patch's Summer Milk Shake Tour: McDonald's McCafe

Time to test out the legendary McDonald's McCafe Chocolate Triple Thick Shake.

I, Macomb Patch Editor Jenny Whalen, am throwing caution–and waistline–to the wind to identify the creamiest, frothiest and most flavorful shakes made around town.

This week, I'm testing the legendary McDonald's shake.

For a quick refresher on how these shakes are rated: Presentation, Froth Factor, Toppings and Mmm (which judges the shake on a scale of 1-Quite satisfying, 2-Yum ..., 3-You're welcome taste buds, 4-Let's do that again! and 5-Holy shakes, Batman!).

Shake: The McCafe Chocolate Triple Thick Shake.

Presentation: McDonald's has reinvented the look of its classic shake through its McCafe. In place of the old school paper cup, a bubble-top plastic glass now gives a clear view to the creamy chocolate and toppings within.

Froth Factor: This shake doesn't froth. Made with soft-serve ice cream, this shake melts straight into liquid.

Toppings: The McCafe shake is topped with a swirl of whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.

Mmm: 4-Let's do that again! This shake doesn't hold the homemade taste of its hand-dipped cousin, but it disappears just as fast.

McDonald's also offers shakes in vanilla and strawberry.
