The average price for a gallon of gas is slowly starting to fall after hitting a seasonal peak of $3.87 on Sept. 14, according to the Wall Street Journal.
AAA reports the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.79 today; one year ago today, the national average was $3.50 per gallon.
“Retail gasoline prices have slowly been drifting lower since we hit a late summer peak of $3.8708 a gallon on Sept. 14,” Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS), told the Wall Street Journal. He added that gas prices could fall into the $3.70s this week.
In Macomb Township, you can find the cheapest gas at Sunoco (48990 Hayes Rd. and 22 Mile), which was charging $3.87 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline as of Thursday morning. Kroger (21 Mile and Card), Speedway (Hall Road and Romeo Plank) and Mobil (21 Mile and Hayes) are all charging $3.89.
