Drivers looking to fill up at Speedway will have to go south of Hall Road for at least the next week as the station on the north side of Hall at Romeo Plank gets a facelift.
The station, located at 18601 Hall Rd. in Macomb Township, is not expected to make any drastic changes in appearance other than new asphalt for the parking lot, but will remain closed until work is completed.
Township engineer Jim Van Tiflin said based on the permits pulled for the work, most of the work is being done on the parking lot and underground on the station's gas storage tanks.
While it is unknown when the station will reopen, Van Tiflin said the work will need to be done quickly as the season for construction, specifically asphalt replacement, is coming to an end.
The station will remain closed while under construction.
An alternative Speedway location is the station on the south side of Hall Road at Romeo Plank.
