It's origins may be German, but the hot dog is all American and today we celebrate that product without which there would be no Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
No one really knows the how or why, but July 23 is National Hot Dog Day and with Americans consuming around 20 billion hot dogs a year, according to the The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, it's no wonder this ballpark favorite has a day all its own.
