Walsh College Recipient of Second Largest Charitable Gift in History of School

Tim Moore, Managing Shareholder at Doeren Mayhew Houston, with wife Sandra, pledged the second largest donation from an alumnus in the history of Walsh College, establishing an Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship will help deserving students earn a degree at Walsh College and will be available to all enrolled Walsh students, regardless of degree level, who enter the College with a grade point average of 3.0.  Preference will be given to students studying accounting or finance.

“We’re very proud and gracious for the generosity shown by Tim and Sandra Moore,” said Walsh College President and CEO Stephanie Bergeron.  “The value of a Walsh education is very evident to Mr. Moore, a proud Walsh alum, and Doeren Mayhew, a valued partner who actively recruits our strong students.”

Tim Moore earned his bachelor of accountancy degree from Walsh College in 1979, and was hired by Doeren Mayhew a year later.  Moore then left for Houston, Texas in 1984 and started his own accounting firm, T.R. Moore & Company.  With the help of Sandra, who managed marketing and public relations for the firm, Mr. Moore grew the firm into an award-winning practice, which then merged with Doeren Mayhew in 2010.

Mr. Moore has demonstrated an ongoing interest in his alma mater and has helped the College meet and interact with alumni in the Houston area.  Donors for more than twenty years, Tim and Sandra Moore will be recognized as Executive Level members of the Mervyn B. Walsh Society upon completion of this gift, one of the College’s highest level giving societies.
