Education Nation: Metro Detroit Teacher Karen Farber

Farmington Public Schools Teacher, Karen Farber, speaks to Charlie Kadado about a range of subjects including the importance of education and the issue of teaching life skills to students as well.

Karen Farber is certainly not your ordinary teacher. In fact, she is a 34-year veteran in the profession. Her diverse teaching skills and ability to connect with their students have allowed Farber to educate her students in a “hands-on” manner.

Please check out my video interview with Mrs. Farber on the right.

I had the opportunity to visit Mrs. Farber last week when I noticed that her students were not the same as others. After walking throughout Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills, I observed students reading textbooks, doing their homework, and listening to the teacher lecture for the day. However, Farber’s class was different. Farber’s class sat around the classroom, read the books of their choice, wrote stories about subjects they enjoyed, and even participated in public speaking events. Without question, Farber goes the “extra mile” in teaching and strives to educate her students in a memorable way.
