An Open Letter To President Obama

Hello Mr. President.  I hope this letter finds you well rested and in good spirits.  I know how much I would enjoy 2 weeks off paid.  Correct me if I am wrong but you are still being paid.........right?  I understand this is simply a partial government shutdown.  And by partial I mean just the things that directly affect the citizens are shutdown.  You know things like national parks.  The World War 2 Memorial,  and of course websites like amber alert were shutdown.  I did find it kind of ironic that despite the amber alert site (which is to protect our missing children) being temporarily shutdown, your wife's site "Let's Move" (Program developed by the First Lady Michelle Obama to solve the epidemic of childhood obesity within a generation) never shutdown.  I am sure this was nothing more than an oversight.  No way does a man of your character with a prestigious position like The President of The United States of America succumb to kiddie games........right?  I have to admit too,  the idea that the First Lady developed a program to "solve"  childhood obesity is quite humorous.  I mean it's a valiant effort, and I applaud her for the attempt.  For the record "Solve"  are the words chosen on her own website.  But you cannot solve a problem like childhood obesity through legislation.  You can argue the point if you want, but I am pretty sure history is on my side.  Can you think of any law or piece of legislation that has ever helped people lose weight?  I know I can't.  But my point in writing isn't about "Let's Move"(and no I don't mean move out of the country but I do know a few pondering the idea lol).

Mr. President it appears we are in an old fashioned duel.  According to Wikipedia "The duel was based on a code of honour.  Duels were fought not so much to kill the opponent as to gain "satisfaction", that is, to restore one's honour by demonstrating a willingness to risk one's life for it."  I have to admit reading about  famous duels is quite exhilarating.  I would have to say that the most famous duel in American history would have to be between the sitting vice president Aaron Burr and Federalist  and former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton.  Wouldn't you agree Mr. President?  The more I think about it the more it doesn't fit.  We can't really be in a duel can we?  A Democratic President with a Democratic Senate dueling it out with a Republican controlled House of Representatives.  Sounds good at first but then when you go back and read that a duel was based on a "code of honour" well that throws that analogy right out the window doesn't it!

Alright so we are involved in an old fashioned Mexican Standoff!  A Democratic President with his Democratic controlled Senate, a Republican controlled House of Representatives, and the American people.  Now here is the interesting part about my comparison.  Obviously in a duel whoever draws first is at the advantage.  If you shoot first more than likely, you win.  In a Mexican Standoff,  it's actually a disadvantage to shoot first.  If A shoots B, then C shoots A.  Do you see what I mean?  Shoot first and you lose.  What usually ends up happening is A B and C continuously circle one another making little snark remarks about the situation they have found themselves in.  It reminds me of the scene in Pulp Fiction where Pumpkin and Honey Bunny attempt to rob the diner.  Only to meet Jules Winnfied and his friend Vincent Vega.  "I want you to reach in their and pull out my wallet",  such a classic movie.

Mr President you have continuously stated during the standoff that you will not negotiate on your landmark health care reform.  I have a few questions I would like to ask you about it.  First of all I think most, and I mean over 90% of Americans agree with you.  The healthcare system in America needed to be fixed.  Wait a second it almost sounds that it has been.  Scratch that last statement.  Most Americans believe that the healthcare system "Needs"  to be fixed,  ahhh that's better.  You signed into law what has become known as Obama Care.  Here is my question and remember I am just a local Realtor from Metro Detroit.  There are over 10,000 published pages of Obama Care regulations.  10,000!  How many have you read?  I mean you are so for your new health care reform, so how many have you read?     The Guinness Book of World Records says that the longest novel in the world is "In Search of Lost Time".  The book contains 4211 pages and and estimate of 1,200,000 words.  That is 1.2 million words!  Your new health care law has over 10,000 pages.  The average reader can read about 200 words per minute and comprehend a good portion of it.  So if my estimation is correct if you start today and don't take any breaks you can read the entire law that, you say is great for the American people and, you can finish in just over a week.  That is reading 24 hours a day.  But of course you can't.  So is it safe to say you could read it in 2 weeks?  Maybe a month?  I mean we have known about it for so long could you read it in 6 months?  But of course you don't.  Yet somehow you can say it's good for the American people.  That doesn't make sense to me.  You clearly don't understand the law, but its good for us?  That sounds fishy to me.

Mr.  President I have some "Prime Swamp Land"  right here in Detroit for you!  Don't worry about the 10,000 page contract just sign right here!  I mean c'mon you can trust me, right?  Now I am being silly I know but imagine that.  Imagine for a moment that I was selling your house or helping you buy a house.  I say no problem this is gonna be great for you.  Just scan over the 10k page contract and sign right here!  Would you?  Of course not.  We would probably end up in a duel!  But that is exactly what the President has done.  The President or should I say the "president"  is not leading(did you see what I did with the small p?  I am a literary genius)  He says he won't negotiate yet expects the House to negotiate.  The house is also not leading.  Meanwhile, back at the ranch (I think I am going to shutdown and watch some spaghetti westerns)  the American people are stuck in a Mexican Standoff with 2 groups who have no idea how to lead our great country.

You see Mr. President while you worry about your legacy, and what your able to accomplish as President, real people are facing real problems every day.  I do have to say that I find it painstakingly funny that your exempt from your new law.  Think for a moment about how hypocritical this is.  You see real leaders do what's best for everyone not just themselves.  Real leaders lead by example.  I can't help but think about Detroit's own Kwame Kilpatrick.  I actually pity him.  He was just sentenced to 28 years in prison because he thought he was above the law.  Now I am not insinuating that you have done anything illegal, but I can't help but make the comparison.  He was sentenced so strongly in my opinion because people are sick of injustice.  They are sick of being ruled by people who think the rules don't apply to them.  And by exempting all of Washington from this new law you alienate the people.  Besides all that if the law was that good, you would have been the first to spend all day, not able to sign up(could you imagine how funny that would've been?).

Mr President you need to stop acting like your on the campaign trail.  You already have won the election, and now it's time to lead.  It disgust me when I see you on TV spreading your fear propaganda.  My favorite is that if the Republicans don't give in we are going to default on the national debt.  The federal government brings more than enough revenue in to continue paying the debt.  It's a non issue.  But for some reason the main stream media doesn't call you onto the carpet for this.  Mr President the times are dark.  I have never seen our country so divided.  But it's darkest before the dawn.  If you want to leave a real legacy?  Then step up and lead the country.  No more partisanship.  No more finger pointing.  Step up and lead.  We haven't had a President truly lead the United States in a long time.  That sir could be your legacy.  If you will step up to the plate assume responsibility and lead.

This blog is not about politics(poly meaning more than one,  ticks meaning blood sucking insects)  it's about real estate, but I had to vent.  I don't care if you are a "Dumb"ocrat or Re"scrub"lican.  They are both ruining our country. The sad part is the average American is either too dumb,  too lazy, or more interested in things like sports, reality TV etc to pay attention to what is going on.  This side blames the right this side blames the left and on and on and on.  Somebody needs to step up and lead.  When is the last time we had a leader actually lead?  I'd have to say Reagan.  I really don't care about politics in Washington.  I just want someone to do what's right.  I could go on and on about the healthcare etc, but I don't need to beat a dead horse.  Name one government controlled program that has ever been successful.  Just one.  The severely mismanaged and abused welfare system?  How have they done in mortgages?  What about Social (In) Security?  That has worked well, hasn't it?  It's a bad idea no matter how you slice it.  There, I go beating the dead horse.

And I almost forgot.  I have some Prime Swamp Land to sell ya!  Contact me today!
