Five Things to Know Today: June 1

From weather to language, calendar events to public ordinances, here are five things you need to know today.

If knowledge is power, then more power to you with these five things:

  1. Don't put away the sunscreen just yet, Mother Nature is gracing us with another day of heat. Today is expected to be sunny, with a high near 80 degrees, and breezy. The temperature will drop to around 55 degrees in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
  2. In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: Mund, meaning mouth, is a noun pronounced [moond].
  3. Not the best reminder on a hot day, but Macomb Township has implemented an odd/even lawn watering restriction and will fine residents not following the code. Watering dates are dependent upon the calendar day and a water customer’s home address. Customers are also required to refrain from any outside water use between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.
  4. Congratulations to the seniors who graduated Tuesday, May 31. Check out this of the event.
  5. Need a little music in your life? 's spring band concert is at 7 p.m. The concert is being held in the Seneca cafeteria.
