Come Fly With Me: Testing Out a Selfridge Air Show Stunt Plane

Macomb Patch Editor Jenny Whalen takes to the skies flying in a Magnum Pitts stunt plane that will appear in the 2011 Selfridge Air Show. Come fly with me.

Owned and piloted by Brett Hunter of Brett Hunter Airshows, this Magnum Pitts stunt plane is scheduled to appear in the 2011 Selfridge Air Show Aug. 20-21 at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Macomb Patch Editor Jenny Whalen took to the skies on Aug. 18 to test out this Red Baron-esque beast and bring Patch readers along for the ride with the aid of a point-and-shoot camera.

Opting for the full stunt show experience, we hit 4 g's and did a series of barrel rolls, dives and flips, which made me realize that the pilot's suggestion to skip lunch before taking off was probably the best advice I'd ever receive.

Watching me tackle the red "hot rod" of airplanes is one thing, but nothing can beat a live performance.

Check out Hunter's aircraft and others at the air show this weekend.
