Dispatches: The Changing American Dream

Infused with the hope of pilgrims, the ambition of immigrants and the pride of an entire nation, the American Dream is as diverse and dynamic as the people who embody it.

Its definition is unique for all who pursue it, but its meaning–hope, freedom, success–is universal.

Once again America and its people face trying times. But every day, in towns across our country, Macomb Township included, there are families, businesses and community members doing their part to adjust to this changing American Dream.

In an effort to follow these stories of hope, perseverance and evolution, we’re excited to introduce a new series for Patch readers: Dispatches: The Changing American Dream.

Be it the local business experimenting with new forms of innovation, the volunteer group adapting to serve increased numbers of those in need, or the college student returning home to save costs in a less-than-ideal job market, we want to explore these tales of challenge and opportunity on a daily basis so we can better understand how our neighbors are working toward their own American Dream.

Dispatches will be built upon the compelling accounts and snapshots we unearth across Macomb Patch and the more than 900 Patches spread out across the country.
