UPDATE: DTE Reports Power Restored in East Macomb County

Thousands of DTE customers in Macomb Township, Chesterfield and New Baltimore were without power Thursday night until early Friday morning.

DTE Energy reported some 11,000 customers without power in the area east of Card Road between 21 and 24 miles roads Sept. 1.

The utility company said the cause of the outage was a failed transformer and heat was a contributing factor.

Krystal Stone saw the transformer go and wrote her observation on the Macomb Patch Facebook page: "I saw the Transformer blow, I was just pulling in the driveway and knew it wasn't lightning. It lit up the whole sky at about 9 p.m. near 23 mile and Sass in Chesterfield."
